1963 Company founded with the purchase of 1,200-subscriber cable system in Tupelo, MS
1972 First public stock offering
1986 Comcast doubles in size to 1.2 million cable customers with the purchase of 26% of Group W Cable
1988 Company purchases 50 percent of Storer Communications, Inc., making Comcast the fifth largest cable operator
1994 Acquires Maclean Hunter’s U.S. cable operations, adding 550,000 customers
1995 Acquisition of E.W. Scripps cable systems adds 800,000 customers to Comcast’s subscriber base
1997 Microsoft invests $1 billion in Comcast
1998 Comcast adds over 1.5 million subscribers by acquiring Jones Intercable, Inc. (1.1 million) and Prime Communications (406,000)
2000 Lenfest Communications, Inc. acquired, adding 1.3 million cable subscribers Co-founder Ralph J. Roberts inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame
2001 Comcast completes the acquisition of select AT&T Broadband cable systems in six states adding 595,000 customers
2002 HD television and video-on-demand service are now available
Comcast serves 21 million video customers in 38 states, with 6.3 million digital video customers, 3.3 million high-speed data customers, and 1.3 million cable phone subscribers
Co-founder Daniel Aaron inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame

Comcast acquired the cable systems of Susquehanna Communications and gains 225,000 video subscribers
